My name is Holly. I work with people to help them feel more peaceful, content, and fulfilled with their lives. I’m a counsellor and psychotherapist with 20 years of ongoing education and experience to offer. I’m here to collaborate with you to appreciate the person you already are, together with taking meaningful steps ahead for yourself.
I work with you in a collaborative way, so that we focus on what you need, and what is important to you. I can offer help on two main dimensions: coping skills and healing & personal growth and fulfillment. We can focus primarily on one or the other, or in combination, as feels right for you.
Some people approach me for therapy to address past history or hurt, change old patterns that aren't working, or to learn helpful tools and skills to feel more in control of things like worrisome thoughts, or difficult emotions. Others reach out for help with clarity or support to address life goals and dreams, so they can refine what they really want, what would "light them up inside," and then transform plans into a fulfilling, meaningful reality. Some people I work with opt for a blend of both approaches, which could involve letting go of the past, learning tools to better manage in the present, and connecting with inner strengths and resources to support personal or professional growth and happiness, leading into a preferred future.
We focus on what your needs are, and what matters to you. I will meet you where you are at, and we work towards what you want for yourself.
Maybe you are seeking help with stress or anxiety (ex. worries, social anxiety, performance anxiety, public speaking), or with self-doubt, self-worth, and self-criticism. You might want to feel greater confidence, or to communicate effectively to meet your needs and have healthier boundaries and relationships. Perhaps you are dealing with illness, or are feeling burned out by life, work, or care-giving, and are seeking assistance in your recovery.
If you are feeling troubled or preoccupied with past losses, hurts, and disappointments, as a certified trauma professional, I can help you to release the pain of the past and leave it more in your rear-view mirror, behind you. I want to you feel the relief of stepping out of the shadows of past pain into the lightness of greater peace where there is space to breathe, and to enjoy your life more fully.
If you are looking for help with personal or career goals, I also have specialized training to help people get barriers out of the way to a life that is richer, and more fulfilled. For many people, it can be hard to clarify what you really want next, and it can be confusing and scary to think about making a change, how to actually make it happen, and then really taking action to get there. People can feel easily stuck in this area, sometimes in the "how" of making dreams come true, or in worries about making mistakes, actually being successful, or in believing that a more satisfying future is possible.
Maybe you are in a transitional place in your life, or you just want something different, because you know that you are not satisfied and there is more you want to do, be, and experience in your life that would be worthwhile, and even exciting.
